Previous Mission Projects
In response to the recent earthquake in Haiti,
the Missions Committee decided to contribute health kits which would be shipped to Haiti. The health kits include, a hand towel no bigger than 17 inches by 27 inches,
wash cloth, toothbrush, nail file or fingernail clipper, large comb,
a bar of soap 3 ounces or larger, 6 band-aid strips, and a dollar for toothpaste.
They require the dollar so the people at UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) can go buy toothpaste in bulk so as not to go past the expiration date of the toothpaste.
All items are then put in a gallon plastic bag.
We gathered 89 health kits.
North Highland served as a gathering point for churches in our area.
The Missions Committee sponsored a bake sale on Sunday, February 7th.
All proceeds went towards relief for Haiti. The money was sent directly to UMCOR.
Thanks to everyone for polishing up your baking skills and bringing marvelous treats.
Thanks to everyone who purchased these items.
Due to budget cuts, the United Campus Ministries has had their budget slashed. In order to help this organization, the Missions Committee held a fundraiser lunch after church on Sunday, February 14th with donations going to the United Campus Ministries whose purpose is to serve those who are in college.
Why go out for lunch on Valentines Day when you can stay at church and
receive a wonderful lunch with your donation going to a very worthy cause.
