Mission Statement:
North Highland is a faith community, which exists to make disciples for Jesus Christ: We accept you as you are, while encouraging and equipping you to become all God intends.
I've been thinking quite a bit about North Highland‟s mission statement recently. Some of the words that have really grabbed me include "Making Disciples,‟ "Equipping,‟ and "Encouraging.‟ As I‟ve been thinking about these words, two Scripture passages come to mind.
1) Matthew 28:19 The Great Commission Jesus was telling his followers to live his message, and keep his mes-sage alive. He said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations."
2) Matthew 22:37-39 The Greatest Commandment Jesus summed up all the commandments, clarifying what is expected of a true believer. He said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Make disciples. Equip them. Encourage them. As we love God with everything we have, and as we love the people around us with every-thing we have, we Make disciples. We Equip them. And we Encour-age them. May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with you as we enter into this Season of Lent.
