After School Kids
After School Kids
The After School Kids program will begin in October.
Stay tuned for further details.
ASK is the North Highland UMC after school program for children kindergarten through fifth grade. They meet on Wednesdays at 3:15 P.M. Anyone needing a ride should call the church, because transportation is provided for those who need it. ASK April meetings will include the following programs:
We begin with an afternoon snack and a short opening. There is a main activity for the day. We have done pottery, woodworking, embroidery, and other art projects. We do science projects. We sing and play bells. We have had books read. We memorize a Bible verse each month. We have a closing prayer and a closing song.
The 5:00 meal is for everyone.
Children who want to stay,
as well as their families,
are invited to join us.
Those who wish to contribute can check the sign-up list in the hall.
What’s the “After School Kids” time all about?
Offering a place to gather in fellowship, having fun through music, games and crafts, and deepening our understanding of the Christian faith. It is also an opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to experience God’s love and message.
Isn’t that what they do in Sunday School?
Yes! But they want more! The kids want to get together. Meeting in the middle of the week emphasizes that God isn’t just a Sunday word. Meeting on Wednesdays is another opportunity to reach out and invite others into the community of Jesus Christ. Wednesday time offers more time to work on projects, and a little more freedom of movement.
Who’s it for?
The activities planned initially are going to focus on the kids, but an intergenerational time is the big goal. Come, have a snack with the kids, ask them about their day, (they’ll entertain you with their answers!), do a craft, sing “This Little Light of Mine,” and/or join a beanbag race. Your presence is most certainly welcome!
