Thank you for supporting and contributing
to the after school and youth programs this year.
Your time and resources have made it possible for us to:
  • Make and bring cookies for those needing care
  • Make candy trains and shop for Shoebox Christmas packages
  • Play bells and sing at Mother Joseph Manor
  • Paint new signs for Wesley Acres Camps
  • Assemble a flood bucket
  • Attend a Christian Rock Concert
  • Sing, play, craft, pray, learn, and eat, eat, eat, eat, eat!

Thank You

Thoughts from Pastor Mark

You’ve probably heard me mention that statistic from a Gallup Poll that 90% of youth in the United States are spiritually hungry.

In a recent survey completed by our Youth Leadership Team, the youth of North Highland United Methodist Church rank ordered what they wanted to do and study this year in Youth Group.
The top three things in rank order were:
(1) How do I live for Jesus?
(2) What guidance does the Bible have for my life?
(3) What is God’s plan for me?

Let’s consider this information in regard to the data that says that something like 85% of people who say they are Christians, first developed their relationship with Christ before they were 18 years of age.

We have an incredible opportunity. We need your help. We have very few resources so far for our people 18 (or 30) and under. The Missions committee, trustees, and church council have graciously offered to create a youth room upstairs. We already have had an air hockey and another multiple game table donated. We have a sofa and love seat. We’ve ordered some curriculum and resources to use to study and build relationships as Christians. We have great leaders for the Youth Group and Sunday School.

The Education Committee and Church Council has given approval to go ahead and form a task force to propose a plan to open up the church after school on Wednesdays for children and youth to stop over and do some crafts, play some music, ring the bells, and so forth. Again, if you’re interested in being around the church and helping out with the activities, great. If you can simply donate snacks, great. If you can drop some kids off after school, great. If you can invite people, great.

This continues to evolve. Our prayer is that we can let the Holy Spirit work through us to help reach out to a group that is seeking the Truth and help to plant, water, and nurture seeds that will sprout into compassionate, caring Christians.

Your prayers are very much needed for this part of the ministry at North Highland. We need you; we need your ideas.
